The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecasted the possible formation of a low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and its adjoining regions within the next 24 hours. As a result, rainfall is likely to increase across the country.
This information was shared in a 120-hour weather forecast signed by meteorologist Md. Tariful Newaz Kabir on Saturday, June 28, at 9 AM.
According to the forecast, the monsoon trough currently extends from Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and across southern Bangladesh to Assam, with a portion stretching into the northern Bay of Bengal.
The monsoon is currently moderately active over Bangladesh and strong over the northern Bay of Bengal. These conditions are expected to create a favorable environment for the development of a low-pressure system in the northwest Bay and surrounding areas within the next 24 hours, BMD stated.
