World football superstar Lionel Messi has recently made an exciting announcement on his Instagram account one that marks a new chapter for football lovers around the world. Messi revealed that he will be organizing an international tournament called the “Messi Cup” this December in Miami, USA.
The tournament will be exclusively for under-16 players, featuring participation from some of the world’s top football clubs.
In his post, Messi wrote:
“I can finally say that a special tournament for promising young players will take place this December in Miami. Some of the best clubs in the world will take part, and there will be many other activities during those days. It’s a great opportunity for the next generation. I hope everyone will enjoy the Messi Cup.”
The tournament is being organized by Messi’s production company, “525 Rosario”, and will run from December 9 to 14.
The inaugural edition of the Messi Cup will feature eight clubs, including Inter Miami, Barcelona, Manchester City, River Plate, Inter Milan, Newell’s Old Boys, Atletico Madrid, and Chelsea.
Matches will be played at Chase Stadium and Inter Miami’s training complex in Miami. The six-day tournament will consist of 18 matches in total, divided into two groups, followed by playoffs and a final.
According to Tim Pastore, CEO of 525 Rosario,
“The Messi Cup is a celebration that brings together today’s football and tomorrow’s players.”
The main objective of the tournament, the company says, is to shape the future of football.
Through this initiative, Messi is not just showcasing his own legacy but also paving the way for future football stars. The “Messi Cup” is more than just a game—it’s a digital-based platform that combines football, culture, and innovation in one event.
