Lawyer allegedly beaten to death in Bashundhara Residential Area

A 35-year-old lawyer, Naeem Kibria, was allegedly beaten to death in Bashundhara Residential Area on Wednesday night, causing shock in the locality.

SI Ariful Islam of Bhatare Police Station reported that the incident occurred around 10 PM. Police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Sources said Naeem Kibria was from Pabna Sadar Upazila and practiced law at Pabna District Judge Court. His cousin, Rafiqul Islam, claimed he was a victim of mob violence. Naeem was driving a private car, which collided with a motorcycle, after which assailants dragged him out and beat him severely, leaving him on the road before fleeing.

He was taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, where he was declared dead. Naeem had moved to Dhaka about 10 days ago to arrange bail in a Pabna student movement-related case. Police are investigating and taking legal action.
