Teachers and staff of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) have finally received their salaries and allowances—including the Eid-ul-Azha bonus—after a prolonged delay of four months. Due to the absence of a Vice-Chancellor (VC) for nearly six months, the university’s administrative operations had come to a standstill, which directly impacted the disbursement of salaries and allowances. As a result, hundreds of teachers and staff faced severe financial hardship.

A recent directive from the Ministry of Education stated that, based on recommendations from KUET’s acting registrar and relevant administrative officials, and with the consent of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, temporary approval has been granted to release the pending salaries and allowances. Following this directive, the employees have received their long-overdue payments.

It has been reported that the prolonged absence of a Vice-Chancellor has not only affected salaries but also stalled research funding, academic planning, and infrastructure development at the university.

General students are hopeful that the government will soon appoint a new Vice-Chancellor to restore administrative functionality and bring KUET’s regular activities back to normal.
