‘July Fighter’ Tahreema Jannat Suravi Arrested in Joint Operation in Gazipur

In a special operation by the joint forces in Gazipur, a warrant-listed accused and social media personality known as the alleged “July Fighter” Tahreema Jannat Suravi (21) has been arrested. She was detained late Wednesday night from her residence in Gopalpur Tekpara, Tongi East Thana area.

Suravi is the daughter of Selim Mia from the area. The arrest was confirmed by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaliakoir Thana, Nasir Uddin.

According to police sources, a warrant had been issued against Suravi in a case filed at Kaliakoir Thana. She faces serious charges including extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and blackmail. Additionally, she is accused of posting obscene and offensive comments on social media about the current government advisors and the Chief of Army Staff.

Law enforcement authorities claim that recently, she allegedly extorted approximately 25 million BDT from a Gulshan businessman under the pretext of a “July Movement-related case” as part of a coordinated fraud syndicate. Preliminary investigations suggest that the syndicate led by Tahreema Jannat Suravi has extorted an estimated 500 million BDT from various individuals through blackmail and extortion.

Police also reported that she actively presented herself as a coordinator and participant of the “24th People’s Uprising” on social media for a long time.

After the operation, Suravi was handed over to the police station. Authorities said she will be presented in court after the necessary legal procedures.
