Staff Reporter | PNN:
Jubo League leader Mizanur Rahman has been released on bail by the Queens County Criminal Court in New York. He was arrested Monday night by police following an incident in which he threw eggs at Akhtar Hossain, the Secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP).

After being released on bail at 9:00 PM local time on Tuesday, Awami League leaders and activists welcomed him outside the court with flowers and expressed their excitement with slogans. Shortly after his release, Mizan said that the allegations against him were baseless and conspiratorial.

He further stated, “None of the charges against me have been proven in court. This drama has been orchestrated to harass me politically.”

The incident took place on the afternoon of September 22 at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. Mizan threw eggs at Akhtar Hossain, who was part of the delegation of Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the interim government, attending the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Police arrested him around 9:30 PM from the Jackson Heights area.

After his release on bail, it was revealed that he will have to appear in court again next month. Meanwhile, local Awami League leaders alleged that a group supported by the BNP had attempted to arrest Mizan through a false case.
