Mia Golam Parwar, Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami, stated that those in power over the past 54 years since Bangladesh’s independence have failed to meet public expectations. He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a student gathering at Shahpur Andulia Football Field, Dumuria, Khulna, on Friday, 21 November.
He said, “Over the past 54 years, governance, the economy, the judiciary, agriculture, education, and culture have failed to deliver expected results to the people. Corruption, extortion, oppression of dissenters, and deterioration of public life have prevailed. In the upcoming election, the nation will show its ‘red card.’”
Parwar added, “Despite the political changes on 5 August, control over fields, markets, and extortion continues as before. Jamaat has no part in these activities. The people now demand change. A just and corruption-free state can be built under Jamaat’s leadership.”
He urged the administration and law enforcement to remain neutral, warning, “Anyone attempting electoral fraud will not escape accountability. The people will judge this.”
Reiterating the party’s principles and transparency, he promised, “Jamaat MPs and ministers will not accept tax-free vehicles, plots, or special privileges. Development allocations will be made public, and accountability mechanisms will be established.”
The student gathering was attended by Maulana Moktar Hossain, Amir of Dumuria Upazila Jamaat, Abu Sadik Kayem, VP of Dhaka University Central Student Council (DUCSU), GS Mazharul Islam of Jahangirnagar University Central Student Council (JAKSU), other students and political leaders, representatives of the Hindu community, and local political figures.
