Ahead of the upcoming 13th parliamentary election on February 12, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has presented policy-oriented and future-focused plans for the country. The party’s Amir, Shafiqur Rahman, unveiled this outline during a Policy Summit-2026 held at a hotel in Dhaka on Tuesday morning. The summit discussed key political, economic, and social issues in the country.

Shafiqur Rahman said, “After long-term authoritarian rule, Bangladesh is going through a sensitive democratic transformation. In this context, the upcoming election is not just a political event, but a critical moment to determine the governance direction for over 18 crore people.”

He further mentioned that the country’s biggest challenge is not merely survival but maintaining stability. Educated youth are unable to find jobs matching their qualifications, women still face structural barriers, and ordinary citizens are at risk of poverty despite hard work.

Shafiqur Rahman highlighted the contribution of expatriate Bangladeshis, stating that millions of expatriate workers not only remit funds but also bring skills and global experience to aid the country’s development. Foreign-based academics, doctors, engineers, and entrepreneurs can guide the new generation in reforms.

He emphasized the need to reform economic policies, stating that employment should be considered a state priority, not merely a byproduct of investment, and informal labor should gradually be brought under formal structures.

Regarding women’s participation, he stated, “Full inclusion of women is not only a matter of justice but essential for sustainable prosperity.”

The summit noted that Bangladesh’s future depends on partnerships among the state, citizens, private sector, and the international community. Shafiqur Rahman emphasized engagement, cooperation, and shared responsibility. Representatives from 30 countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and Pakistan, participated in the summit.
