At a human chain held at Matsya Bhaban Mor, Syed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, the Naib-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, alleged that several advisers of the interim government are involved in electoral conspiracies. He claimed to have the names, voice recordings, and statements of these advisers during meetings.

Taher spoke at the rally on Tuesday (October 14) at 12 PM, saying, “I want to draw the government’s attention. I am not issuing a warning today, I am giving time—give those who are conspiring a chance to reform. If not, their names will be made public.”

He accused that loyalists of a particular party are being appointed to key civil and police administration positions to influence the upcoming national election. “We see that four to five government advisers are controlling all appointments in favor of a specific party, which is becoming a major obstacle to a free and fair election,” he added.

The Jamaat leader further stated that a newly appointed secretary in the public administration has a history of past corruption and political affiliation with a particular party, despite prior government assurances that no partisan or corrupt individuals would be appointed.

The human chain, organized with five-point demands including a referendum incorporating July’s national certificate under the PR system, extended from Jatrabari to Gabtoli. Nurul Islam, Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan South, presided over the rally, while Rezaual Karim, Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North, conducted the program. Other leaders such as Assistant Secretary General ATM Masum, Ehsanul Mahbub Zobayer, and Abdul Halim also spoke at the event.

Taher emphasized that a referendum must be held by November. He alleged that the government is trying to combine the referendum and national election, which goes against public expectations.
