In the southern Gaza town of Bani Suhaila, a Palestinian was killed in a drone strike. The area falls inside the ‘Yellow Line’ controlled by Israeli forces, where attacks have intensified, according to local residents. In northern Gaza City, an unexploded ordinance left by the Israeli military killed a child, while several other children were seriously injured.
Al Jazeera correspondent Tarek Abu Azyom reported from Gaza City that artillery shelling, airstrikes, and helicopter attacks continued in northern and southern Gaza on the same day. Many homes were destroyed in Beit Lahia and eastern Khan Yunis. Local families say that many areas in eastern Gaza are being turned into “uninhabitable buffer zones” by Israel.
In the Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, Civil Defense recovered the bodies of eight members of a single family from the rubble of a previous attack. According to Gaza authorities, since the start of the ceasefire, 582 bodies have been recovered from the rubble, with more than 9,500 people still missing.
The Palestinian Islamic Jihad announced the recovery of the body of an Israeli prisoner in Nuseirat camp in central Gaza. Once identified, two more bodies are to be returned under the first phase of the ceasefire agreement, which stipulates the return of 15 Palestinian bodies for every prisoner’s body.
The US-supported GHF, which operates outside the UN framework in Gaza, has decided to suspend its aid operations. The organization stated that it is withdrawing in compliance with the October ceasefire agreement. UN experts note that over 850 Palestinians have been killed this year at GHF aid distribution centers, as Israeli forces and foreign security contractors regularly fire upon people collecting food.
In the occupied West Bank, Israeli forces arrested at least 16 Palestinians in separate overnight operations in Tulkarem, Bethlehem, Ramallah, and Jenin.
On Sunday night, 20-year-old law student Bara’a Khabiri Ali Ma’ali was killed in Deir Jarir, north of Ramallah, by Israeli gunfire. Local authorities reported that following settler attacks, Israeli soldiers entered the village and fired on protesting Palestinians.
In Kafr Qaddum, two women were injured, and two brothers were detained. Multiple incidents of settlers setting fire to Palestinian farmlands were also reported in northern Ramallah.
Human rights organizations report that since October 7, 2023, at least 1,081 Palestinians have been killed and over 20,000 arrested by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank.
The funeral of Hezbollah’s senior commander Haitham Ali Tabatabai, killed in an Israeli airstrike, was held in Beirut on Sunday, attended by thousands of supporters. Hezbollah called the killing another major violation of the ceasefire.
Lebanese analysts have warned that if Hezbollah retaliates, Israel could use it as a pretext for a large-scale attack, though inaction could weaken the group’s deterrence. Some geopolitical analysts accuse the United States of effectively supporting Israel’s increased operations in the Middle East, arguing that regional tension helps the current Israeli government politically consolidate power.
