Tanzila Hossain alleged that voter ink at Fazilatunnesa Hall was fading, and a ballot was found on the floor, causing voting to be temporarily halted. Additionally, the Vice-President candidate was denied entry into one hall, and at Tajuddin Hall, voting was suspended because some voters’ photos were missing from the voter list. She also claimed that excess ballots printed by Jamaat-backed candidates were being used and that Chhatra Dal agents were being obstructed at polling stations. She described the election as a complete rigging and a farcical exercise.
Present at the press conference were Vice-President candidate Sheikh Sadi Hasan and other panel leaders.
Meanwhile, VP candidate Arifulllah Adib alleged that outsiders affiliated with Chhatra Dal and BNP were creating chaos at various polling stations across campus. He claimed that under the leadership of former Chhatra Dal president Parvez Mallik, they were present at Bishwo Mile Gate, Rabindranath Hall, Bhashani Hall, and Halls 10 and 21. He also alleged that the guard at Jahanara Hall was assaulted.
Arifulllah further alleged that in Salam-Barakat Hall, there were 293 registered voters but 400 ballots were sent, raising the possibility of vote manipulation. Students at Tajuddin Hall also raised concerns about electoral fraud. Additionally, there were no arrangements to provide ink for voting, which he claimed indicated planned rigging. He criticized the administration, saying the police displayed weakness by failing to control outsiders.
These developments in the JAKSU election have caused concern among students, increasing pressure on the administration to ensure free and fair voting.
