An incident of attack and vandalism has occurred in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, following ongoing tensions between students of two educational institutions.

On Wednesday (April 29) at around 12:30 PM, a group of students allegedly entered Mohammadpur Government College and carried out extensive vandalism.

According to college authorities, the attackers entered the campus in groups and damaged multiple classrooms, furniture, teachers’ vehicles, and CCTV cameras.

Although student presence was low at the time, panic spread among female students, some of whom took shelter in a room for safety.

The conflict reportedly began a few days earlier when some youths attempted to enter the Graphic Arts Institute, leading to an altercation.

Despite attempts at negotiation, tensions continued to rise, with allegations of outsider involvement.

A teacher said the situation had remained tense for several days and discussions failed to resolve the issue.

However, the Graphic Arts Institute claimed its students had also been attacked earlier and one student was seriously injured.

The college authority says the incident is not politically motivated but stems from personal conflicts among students.

No casualties have been reported so far, but law enforcement has been deployed to maintain order.

Authorities are working to restore normal academic activities.
