India concluded the series with a commanding victory over England in a one-sided contest. Chasing a formidable target of 597 runs, England was bowled out for just 271, handing India a dominant 336-run win. Shubman Gill was declared the Man of the Match.

Brief Scorecard:

  • India: 587 & 427/6 Declared.

  • England: 407 & 271 (Smith 88, Carse 38, Stokes 33; Akash Deep 6/99, Sundar 1/28, Krishna 1/39, Jadeja 1/40, Siraj 1/57)

  • Result: India won by 336 runs.

  • Man of the Match: Shubman Gill.

On the final day of the Test today at Edgbaston, a heavy downpour had brought uncertainty over when play would start and how much time would be available for England, offering a glimmer of hope. However, once the rain ceased and play resumed, England's batting lineup collapsed.

England captain Ben Stokes' dismissal was one of the match's most crucial moments. He was trapped LBW playing forward to Washington Sundar. The decision by Bangladeshi umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid was upheld even after a DRS review. It became clear immediately after Stokes' exit, just before the delayed lunch break, that this Test was no longer in England's grasp. Even when England began their chase of 608 runs on the fourth day, they faced an uphill battle, one they ultimately could not overcome.

Akash Deep delivered a superb bowling performance for India, claiming 6 wickets that broke the back of England's batting. His outstanding performance played a pivotal role in this decisive victory.
