Independent Candidate for Dhaka-8 and Inqilab Mancha Spokesperson Osman Hadi Shot in Bijoynagar

Sharif Osman Hadi, the spokesperson of Inqilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency, has been shot in Bijoynagar in the capital. The incident took place on Friday afternoon in front of the Box Culvert area.

According to eyewitnesses, at around 2:25 pm two individuals arrived at the spot on a motorcycle. Upon arrival, they fired multiple shots at Hadi from close range. As he collapsed on the road after being shot, the attackers quickly fled.

Hadi, critically injured, was immediately rescued and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Talebur Rahman of the Media and Public Relations Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police told reporters, “Two motorcycle riders suddenly arrived and opened fire. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being collected to identify the attackers.”

Following the incident, tension spread in the area. The reason behind the attack is still unknown. Police said all possibilities, including political rivalry or personal enmity, are being investigated.
