In Bhanga Municipality, Faridpur, two traders have been fined for allegedly storing fuel illegally. The fines were imposed by a mobile court during an operation conducted by the Upazila administration on Monday (March 9) afternoon.
During the operation, a total of 31 barrels of fuel were seized from the warehouses of two shops located in front of Bhanga Municipality and under the Atadi Flyover. The traders were unable to present valid documents for the seized fuel, leading to legal action against them.
The mobile court was conducted by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Sadarul Alam. He stated that the operation was based on confidential information. Evidence of large-scale fuel stockpiling was found at the warehouses of Abul Basar Traders and Belayet Hossain Traders.
The owners of the two establishments were fined BDT 10,000 each, totaling BDT 20,000. The fines were collected on the spot.
Magistrate Sadarul Alam further said that such operations will continue in the future to prevent artificial market shortages and to protect public interest.
