Staff Report: PNN
Discussions were planned with ICC officials to address the ongoing uncertainty over Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. However, instead of two scheduled officials, only one representative will come to Dhaka.
Sources indicate that Andrew Agrebe, Head of the ICC Anti-Corruption and Security Department, will be the sole representative visiting Bangladesh. He is expected to meet with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and relevant government representatives.
The BCB has previously raised concerns about safety in India, especially after the exclusion of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL. Under the supervision of Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul, the BCB formally communicated these concerns to the ICC and requested a venue change.
Despite repeated correspondence, the ICC has been reluctant to change the venue. In this context, an important meeting is scheduled at BCB headquarters in Mirpur with Andrew Agrebe. Topics to be discussed include security, match risk, and alternative arrangements.
BCB Director Iftekhar Rahman Mithu confirmed that the ICC representative will come to Dhaka and top BCB officials will attend the meeting. He expressed hope that a positive resolution can be reached through discussion. This issue has generated widespread interest in the cricketing community
