Although Bangladesh’s women’s football team showed signs of competitiveness in their previous match against China, they could not repeat that performance against North Korea. In a match held in Sydney, the red-and-green representatives suffered a heavy 5–0 defeat against the powerful North Korean side, failing to withstand their attacks.

Kim Kyong-yong scored two goals for North Korea. Myong Yu-jong, Chae Un-yong, and Kim Hye-yong each added one goal to secure a big victory for their team. As a result of this defeat, Bangladesh’s chances of remaining in the tournament have become even more difficult.

Despite the heavy loss, goalkeeper Mili Akter delivered a notable performance. She saved several certain goals throughout the match. Without her multiple crucial saves, the margin of defeat could have been even larger.

The statistics also showed North Korea’s clear dominance. They took 31 shots, of which 11 were on target. In terms of ball possession, they controlled the ball for about 65 percent of the match, while Bangladesh held it for around 35 percent.

Bangladesh’s midfield and attacking players failed to make a strong impact. Led by Rituparna and Maria, the attacking line repeatedly lost possession, failing to create significant pressure on the opponent’s defense.

After losing two consecutive matches, Bangladesh is now in a difficult position in the group stage. The team will play their final group match against Uzbekistan in Perth on March 9. Bangladesh hopes to achieve at least a positive result in that match to improve their position in the tournament.
