Four shops burned, one killed in massive fire in Sahar Bazaar, Faridganj

The fire broke out on Saturday morning (27 December) at Zainal Abedin’s Variety Store in Sahar Bazaar, Subidpur West Union. Sabbir, the son of Arif Hossain from Shaldah village in the same union, was working inside the store when the fire spread rapidly to three adjacent shops, causing widespread panic.

Fire service units from Faridganj and nearby Hajiganj arrived and managed to control the fire after a long effort. However, by then, Zainal Abedin’s Variety Store, Iman Hossain’s medicine shop, Nazrul’s fish feed shop, and Zahir’s workshop were completely destroyed, with estimated damages of around 5 million BDT.

Faridganj police recovered the body of the deceased for postmortem at Chandpur Government Hospital. Officer-in-charge Mohammad Helal Uddin confirmed that legal procedures are ongoing and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
