Foreign Ministers of India and Pakistan to Attend Khaleda Zia’s Janaza

India’s Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will attend the state funeral of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in Dhaka tomorrow. This was confirmed on Tuesday by the Foreign Ministry and Pakistan High Commission.

The janaza, to be held at the National Parliament premises in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, will also see senior representatives from several South and Southeast Asian countries. Diplomats and ministers from various nations will attend to honor Khaleda Zia’s lifelong struggle for democracy.

The Foreign Ministry stated that all arrangements have been made to ensure the security and smooth arrival of international guests. Experts believe the participation of top leaders from India and Pakistan highlights Khaleda Zia’s international stature and reflects global recognition of her contributions.

Earlier, at 6 AM on Tuesday, Khaleda Zia passed away at Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at the age of 80. Her death has prompted deep condolences from national and international political leaders and organizations. The BNP has announced a seven-day mourning period.
