Five members of the same family die in gas explosion in Fatullah

A tragic gas pipeline leakage explosion in Fatullah, Narayanganj, has cast a shadow of mourning in the native village after the deaths of five members of the same family. The entire area has been overwhelmed with grief as all family members died one after another.

On Saturday morning, four members of the family were buried in the family graveyard in North Konkadia village of the upazila. Earlier, the funeral prayer was held at North Konkadia Alim Madrasa ground, attended by local representatives, government officials, and hundreds of people.

The deceased are Abul Kalam, his wife Salma, and their three children.

Local sources said Abul Kalam left his village nearly three decades ago in search of livelihood and settled in Narayanganj. He ran a vegetable business and lived with his family on the ground floor of a multi-storey building in Fatullah.

A few days ago, a gas leak was detected in their house, and the family claims they informed the building owner, but no timely action was taken.

On Sunday morning, while lighting the stove in the kitchen, a massive explosion occurred. All five family members were severely burned and admitted to the National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka.

Abul Kalam died first during treatment. Over the following days, his wife and three children also died one after another. Doctors said the burn injuries were extremely severe.

Relatives said Abul Kalam had been building a house in his village with years of hard work and was planning to return permanently after Eid-ul-Adha. However, instead of fulfilling that dream, the entire family returned in coffins.

Local residents said the tragic death of five members of the same family has created deep sorrow in the area. Many blamed negligence for the accident and demanded a proper investigation and accountability.
