Fake currency traders caught in Naikhongchhari, over 1.1 million BDT fake notes recovered

In a special police operation in Naikhongchhari Upazila, Bandarban, more than 1.138 million BDT worth of fake currency notes were seized and three individuals arrested. Police Superintendent Md. Abdur Rahman briefed the press at 11:15 AM on Saturday (27 December).

The operation was conducted on Thursday night (25 December) at Wachakhali, near the border, based on a secret tip-off. The suspects were caught exchanging fake notes outside Nurul Islam’s shop.

The arrested individuals are Habib Ullah (19), a resident of Ukhiya Rohingya Camp-1 (East Block), Ali Johar (28), and Md. Abul Hashem (32), both from Kutupalong West Para. Initial investigation suggests they were part of an organized network trading in fake currency, possibly using the border area. Investigation continues to determine where the notes were printed. A case has been filed in Naikhongchhari police station.
