BNP leader and Political Assistant to the Prime Minister, Rashed Khan, commented that alongside evaluating the government's six months of activities, it is also necessary to evaluate how effective the opposition party's role is in state governance. He called upon the opposition party to cooperate with the government rather than engaging in political opposition surrounding national crises.

Rashed Khan shared these remarks in a Facebook post on his personal profile on Wednesday (August 19) night.

He stated that in the political reality shaped by the mass uprising, one party holds the responsibility of running the government while another party is in the opposition. Consequently, both sides have responsibilities in state reconstruction. In his view, besides what the government is doing, how much the opposition party is cooperating in the national interest should also be a topic of public discussion.

Referencing the Prime Minister's speech in the National Parliament, Rashed Khan noted in his post that the government and the opposition party are supposed to act as complementary to each other. He also expressed the view that coordinated efforts are needed instead of political division to tackle national crises.

Highlighting various crises in the country, including energy and electricity, the BNP leader claimed that these problems were not created by the present government. According to him, the present government has inherited these crises, which must now be addressed due to corruption and mismanagement over the past nearly two decades.

He said that instead of using various national issues, including energy and electricity, as political talking points, the opposition party should have presented the long-standing corruption, debt burden, and mismanagement behind them to the public.

Rashed Khan further stated that even after the interim government served for a long duration, no permanent solution was reached for these crises. In his opinion, if those problems had been resolved during that period, it would have been relatively easier for the current government to deal with the situation.

Criticizing the political activities of the opposition party, he alleged that instead of cooperating with the government during national crises, attempts are being made to mislead people and heat up the situation. He commented that this complicates the crisis further rather than solving the problem.

Emphasizing the importance of mutual cooperation and responsible roles among political parties in overcoming national crises, Rashed Khan said that both the government and the opposition must be more sincere in fulfilling their respective responsibilities during this period of state reconstruction.
