Elderly woman killed by motorcycle in Dohar

In Dohar Upazila of Dhaka, a 65-year-old woman named Octomi Dash was killed when hit by a speeding motorcycle, leaving the area in shock.

The accident occurred around 1:00 PM on Wednesday (31 December) in Kartikpur Bazar, Dohar Upazila. The deceased, Octomi Dash, was the widow of the late Dulal Dash and mother of local businessmen Shibu Dash and Babu Dash.

Locals and eyewitnesses said that Octomi Dash went to the market for shopping. While moving from the inner road of the market to the main road, she was suddenly struck by a speeding motorcycle, throwing her onto the road. The motorcycle rider fled the scene immediately.

Her relatives and locals rushed her to Dohar Upazila Health Complex. After initial treatment, she was transferred to Dhaka for advanced care, where doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

Her son, Babu Dash, said his mother went to the market as usual, but she was unexpectedly hit. Despite rushing her to the hospital, she could not be saved. After her body returned home in the evening, the area was filled with grief. Locals have demanded swift identification and legal action against the motorcycle rider.
