The Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election will be held tomorrow, Tuesday. In this context, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Niyaz Ahmed Khan, has urged students to come to the polling stations peacefully and without fear.
In a video message posted this afternoon on the university’s official Facebook page, the Vice-Chancellor said, “The DUCSU election aligns completely with the long-standing aspirations of students and democratic values. Through this election, students will have the opportunity to express their opinions institutionally and further strengthen democracy. I invite everyone to come to the polling stations without fear.”
The Vice-Chancellor stated that special arrangements have been made for female students. Around 40,000 voters will participate across 810 booths in this election. For the first time, voting will be conducted centrally at eight coordinated centers outside the halls. CCTV cameras, three levels of security, and trained polling officers have been deployed to ensure transparency.
Addressing the candidates, the Vice-Chancellor said, “It is crucial to accept both victory and defeat with the right mindset. Whether victorious or defeated, both play an important role in the democratic process. After many years, we are going through a historic election process in which students will actively participate.”
He also confirmed that the election commission, including the Chief Returning Officer and 10 commissioners, will be overseeing the process. Vote counting will be broadcast live via TV cameras to ensure full transparency, and a large number of journalists will monitor the process.
The Dhaka University community emphasizes this appeal, urging students to vote safely and responsibly.
