The admission test for the Science Unit of Dhaka University’s (DU) first-year undergraduate program for the 2025–26 academic session has been postponed. The test, which was scheduled for Saturday, December 20, will no longer take place.
On Friday, December 19, at around 11:45 a.m., the university’s Public Relations Office issued a notice announcing the decision.
The notice stated that the postponement is part of a one-day national mourning in honor of the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a former DU student and convener of the Inquilab Mancha. The Science Unit admission test will be rescheduled, with the new schedule to be announced later.
The university administration noted that the decision also honors Sharif Osman Hadi and other July fighters and martyrs who participated in the 2024 public uprising. Earlier, on Friday at 11 a.m., the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, said the university authorities would soon announce a decision regarding the admission test.
Sharif Osman Hadi passed away on Thursday night, December 18, while undergoing treatment in Singapore. Following this, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, announced one day of national mourning on Saturday.
