The independent investigation committee formed to examine corruption, mismanagement, and structural deficiencies in the last edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) has submitted its preliminary report to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). On Tuesday, August 26, the report was handed over to BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul.
According to a press release from the BCB, the names mentioned in the report will be dealt with in accordance with the BCB constitution, ICC anti-corruption regulations, and national laws. However, at this preliminary stage, no individual or organization has been publicly named in order to maintain transparency and protect everyone’s rights.
The BCB further stated that the report will be reviewed confidentially following international standards and ICC guidelines. Recommendations from the investigation committee will be discussed with BCB officials, and appropriate actions will be taken in due course.
The preliminary report includes key proposals for ensuring the safe and transparent organization of future BPL seasons. Notable suggestions include improving the franchise management structure, strengthening anti-corruption oversight, and enhancing security measures.
The investigation committee hopes that the final report, to be submitted by the end of next month, will include detailed opinions and recommendations for structural reforms. The BCB has indicated that no further comments will be made regarding the preliminary report.
