Despite a shaky start under pressure, Belgium made a strong comeback in their final group match. They defeated New Zealand 5–1 to not only qualify for the knockout stage but also finish as group champions under coach Rudi Garcia.

After failing to win their first two matches, Belgium needed a big victory in the final game, and they delivered.

Leroy Sane (?) sorry correction: (as per text) Léandro Trossard scored in the 28th minute to give Belgium the lead.

In the second half, Belgium became even more aggressive. Trossard scored his second goal in the 50th minute from a pass by Hans Vanaken. Kevin De Bruyne extended the lead to 3–0 in the 66th minute.

New Zealand reduced the margin in the 84th minute through Juste’s goal, briefly creating pressure for Belgium. However, Belgium quickly regained control.

Substitute Romelu Lukaku scored with a header just two minutes after coming on, making it 4–1. Alexis Saelemaekers then scored the fifth goal, finishing a move created by Lukaku’s hold-up play.

Belgium’s dominant 5–1 win secured them the required goal difference to top the group. New Zealand’s campaign ended in the group stage.
