In the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, India won 3-2, but the headline-making moment was the controversial celebration by Pakistani player Muhammad Abdullah.
At the 31st minute, Dallumuan Gangte scored to put India ahead. Before halftime, Abdullah equalized for Pakistan with a penalty goal. However, during his goal celebration, he ran to the corner, sat on the ground, and mimicked drinking tea. He then stood up and gestured as if pointing to a plane crash.
This celebration reminded many of the 2019 Balakot incident, where Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan was captured by Pakistan. Additionally, the gesture resembles the plane crash celebration by Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf aimed at Indian spectators.
Although India’s victory was confirmed on the field, Muhammad Abdullah’s celebration sparked new controversy on social media, turning the spotlight on the match atmosphere.
