Cleanliness campaign launched in Jessore, initiative to prevent dengue by Anindya Islam Amit

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Anindya Islam Amit has called for keeping homes and surroundings clean to prevent the spread of dengue and chikungunya. He said that regular cleanliness can significantly reduce mosquito-borne diseases and other health risks.

He made these remarks while inaugurating a cleanliness campaign near Jessore Institute Pond area on Saturday morning.

The minister said that as the monsoon season approaches, the risk of dengue and chikungunya increases. Therefore, awareness and cleanliness activities must be strengthened in advance. He added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed cleanliness drives every Saturday, and this program is part of that initiative.

He further said that merely holding formal programs is not enough; continuous cleanliness activities must be carried out to prevent diseases. He also emphasized increasing public awareness.

The program was organized by the Ministry’s directive with support from Jessore Institute, district administration, and the municipality.

The session was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ashek Hasan. Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Sujan Sarkar, district BNP President Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon, and representatives of various social and administrative organizations were also present.
