Clash Over Land at Narayanganj Port Leaves 10 Injured, Including Women and Children

A series of clashes and property damage occurred between two groups in Deuli area of Narayanganj Port over the occupation of government land. At least 10 people, including women and children, were injured in the confrontations, four of whom were stabbed.

The incident took place on Monday in Ward No. 24, Deuli area. The injured include Md. Parvez, Md. Zobayer Hossain, Nadim, Bached Chan Sardar, Roman, Shirin Begum, Runa Begum, Rina Begum, Ruhul Amin, and Omar Faruk. Despite the deployment of additional police, no arrests have been made so far.

Locals reported that a dispute had been ongoing between businessman Arif and Baten and Nadim over constructing a house on government land near Udayan Club. Nadim already had a house on the land, but Arif and Baten also wanted to build new houses.

Abdul Bached Chan, president of the local Panchayet Committee, stated that he visited Udayan Club on Monday morning to maintain peace between the parties. However, Arif and Baten’s supporters attacked them with knives, machetes, and other weapons, resulting in Parvez, Zobayer, Nadim, and Roman being stabbed. In retaliation, the opposing group attacked Arif and Baten’s homes, causing property damage. The disputed land near Udayan Club is claimed by one party as privately owned.
