PNN News Desk, Khagrachhari:

In a special anti-smuggling operation along the Khagrachhari border, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 12 Indian cows. The cows were recovered on Wednesday (2 December) around 7:45 PM from the Kolabagaan area of Taindong Union, Dighinala Upazila.

BGB sources reported that upon receiving information about smuggling attempts from India, the 32 BGB Battalion in Khagrachhari immediately acted. Under the leadership of Naib Subedar Mohammad Nurul Absar, a patrol team conducted the operation. Upon noticing the patrol, smugglers abandoned the cows and fled.

The 12 cows, now ownerless, were seized by the BGB. The estimated market value of the seized cows is around 720,000 BDT. The cows will be handed over to Chittagong’s Sitakunda Customs, Excise, and VAT office following legal procedures.

Lt. Colonel Kamran Kabir Uddin, commanding officer of the 32 BGB Khagrachhari Battalion, said regular patrols and anti-smuggling operations along the border will continue and will be intensified as necessary.
