PNN News Desk, Gopalganj:

Allegations have surfaced that a police officer has been working in the Bangladesh Police for nearly 29 years using his younger brother’s secondary school (SSC) certificate. The accused, Aminur Rahman alias Aman, currently serves as Sub-Inspector (SI) in the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) in North Dhaka.

According to the complaint, Aminur Rahman’s real name is Mostafizur Rahman Mostofa, and his permanent address is in Kusumdia village, Sajail Union, Kashiani Upazila. A written complaint filed by Sheikh Ahadul Hasan to the Additional Inspector General of Police at APBN Headquarters brought the issue to light. The complaint is being investigated by a Superintendent of Police at APBN Headquarters.

Investigations revealed that Mostafizur Rahman passed SSC in 1985 from Gopimohan High School, Kashiani. He joined the then Bangladesh Rifles (now BGB) as a sepoy in 1989 and married his classmate Rowshan Ara Beeth the same year. Due to marital discord, his wife filed a written complaint with the Director General of Bangladesh Rifles, leading to his dismissal.

During the period he was at home, a police recruitment notice was published. Allegedly, he could not apply directly due to his age, so he used his younger brother Aminur Rahman Aman’s SSC certificate to join the Bangladesh Police as an ASI in 1996. He has continued working under this identity for decades.

Attempts to contact the accused SI Aminur Rahman were unsuccessful. Investigators stated that if allegations are proven, appropriate legal actions will be taken. The case has sparked discussions both locally and within the police administration.
