Footballers living abroad, dreaming of representing Bangladesh in the red and green jersey, have begun trials today at the National Stadium as part of the Bangladesh Football Federation’s (BFF) ‘Next Global Star’ program. However, uncertainty surrounding the final results of the three-day trial has cast doubt on whether their dreams will be fulfilled.
Starting this Saturday, the trials will continue until June 30. A total of 48 players aged between 14 and 27 from 14 countries are participating. After the trials, the most promising players will be selected.
The BFF initiative is seen as a hopeful and revolutionary step for the future of Bangladeshi football. Yet questions have arisen about whether the final results of the trials will be publicly announced. This uncertainty has caused concern among the expatriate players who have traveled from faraway countries with aspirations of joining the national team.
