Banned Student League leader arrested in Monpura, sent to jail

Police have arrested Md. Sagar Farazi, a banned Upazila Student League leader, in Monpura Upazila, Bhola. He was sent to Bhola District Jail through the court in connection with an attack on police.

On Thursday (1 January) morning, he was presented in court, and the judge ordered his detention. He had been arrested the previous evening from Chowdhury Bazar area of Hajirhat Union, Monpura.

According to police, Sagar Farazi was arrested under "Operation Devil Hunt Phase-2," as part of intensified security measures. He is known as an active leader of the banned Upazila Student League.

His family claimed that his name was not in the original case of assault on police and that he was added as a defendant after arrest.

Monpura OC Farid Uddin said that police arrested a banned student leader and sent him to court for legal proceedings. Local reactions to the arrest were mixed, but police are continuing efforts to maintain law and order.
