The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has announced a 23-member final squad for two friendly matches against Nepal. However, Leicester City defensive midfielder Hamza Chowdhury and Canadian Premier League player Shomit Som will not be joining the team for the Nepal tour.
National team manager Amer Khan stated that Hamza will miss the Nepal trip due to an injury, following advice from his club, Leicester City. Similarly, Shomit is unable to participate because of his club commitments.
The two friendly matches against Nepal are scheduled for September 6 and 9 at Dasarath Stadium in Kathmandu. In the FIFA rankings, Nepal is 176th while Bangladesh is 184th. Both teams will use these matches as preparation for the Asian Cup qualifiers.
New call-ups for Bangladesh include Fortis FC defender Abdullah Omar, while Mohammad Ibrahim and Isa Faisal have returned to the squad. Other players joining the tour are: goalkeepers Sujon Hossain, Mitul Marma, Pappu Hossain; defenders Mehedi Hasan, Rahmat Mia, Topu Barman, Taj Uddin, Abdullah Omar, Tariq Kazi, Isa Faisal, Sad Uddin; midfielders Mohammad Hriday, Jamal Bhuiya, Papon Singh, Sohel Rana (Senior), Sohel Rana, Shah Kazem; forwards Arif Hossain, Shahriar Imon, Rakib Hossain, Faisal Ahmed, Mohammad Ibrahim, Suman Reza.
The national team was initially scheduled to depart for Nepal at noon today, but due to a change in the flight schedule, the new departure has been set for 7:00 PM.
After the Nepal tour, Bangladesh will face Hong Kong in a home-and-away fixture for the Asian Cup qualifiers in October. Currently, Bangladesh has earned one point from two matches and is placed third in the group.
