Awami League leader with banned activities arrested by DB in Saltha

The General Secretary of the banned Awami League and Chairman of Bhawal Union Parishad, Md. Farukuzzaman Fakir Mia (60), has been arrested by the District Detective Branch (DB) in Saltha Upazila, Faridpur.

He was apprehended on Thursday, January 1, at around 6:30 pm in an area of Faridpur city. Following his arrest, he was handed over to Saltha Police Station that night.

OC of District DB, Mizanur Rahman, confirmed that the arrest was conducted based on confidential information. The police also confirmed that he faced multiple cases prior to this arrest.

Local sources stated that several cases had been filed against Fakir Mia over his political activities. His arrest forms part of the ongoing investigations and legal procedures related to these cases.

Saltha Police Station OC, Bablur Rahman Khan, added that following the necessary legal process, the arrested individual was sent to Faridpur court on Friday morning.
