Attack and Vandalism at Sohag Transport Counter in Malibagh, Two Seriously Injured Including Owner

In Malibagh, Dhaka, an attack and vandalism incident occurred at the Sohag Transport bus counter. In addition, the residence of the transport company’s owner, Ali Hasan Polash Talukdar, was also reportedly attacked. Ali Hasan Polash Talukdar and his personal driver, Mamun, were seriously injured by sharp weapons wielded by the attackers.

Eyewitnesses reported that on Wednesday (September 3) around 11:30 PM, two young men were smoking in front of the counter. When the counter staff asked them to stop smoking, an argument broke out between the two sides. Later, the two men called in several others and suddenly attacked the counter, causing vandalism.

During the attack, people around the counter fled in panic. Officials of Sohag Transport stated that several employees were injured, including one who was stabbed. The injured are receiving treatment at local hospitals.

SI Md. Nahid of Ramna Model Police Station said that preliminary investigation revealed that about 60 to 70 people came to the counter and carried out the assault and vandalism. It is not yet confirmed who was involved in the incident. The injured are receiving treatment at Sirajul Islam Medical and other local hospitals.
