At least 12 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes that began early Saturday morning in the Gaza Strip. According to local medical sources, at least six of the deceased were children. These attacks occurred just a day before the Rafah border crossing was scheduled to partially reopen.

In the Al-Mawasi area of northwest Khan Yunis city in southern Gaza, at least seven people were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting a temporary tent set up for displaced people. Among the deceased, three were children. The injured and the bodies of the dead were taken to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis.

Meanwhile, in the western part of Gaza City, in the Remal area, five more Palestinians were killed in an attack on a residential building, including three children. Another building in the Daraj area of the same city was bombed, injuring at least eight people, according to the emergency services department.

According to the Gaza government media office, since the ceasefire brokered by the United States on October 10, at least 524 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks.

Additionally, multiple airstrikes were reported near the Gaza-Masr (Egypt) border town of Rafah. Israel stated that the Rafah crossing would reopen in a limited capacity on Sunday, for the first time since May. However, no aid or humanitarian assistance will be allowed through this route. The Israeli authorities said that only individuals with security approval would be permitted to travel. Those who had left Gaza in the past two years would be allowed to return, but those born outside Gaza would not be allowed entry.

In response to this announcement, Hamas has demanded free movement of people inside and outside Gaza and called for full implementation of all ceasefire conditions.

It is worth noting that since the Israeli campaign began on October 7, 2023, more than 71,600 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza.
