The Bangladesh Army conducted operations in remote hilly areas of Ruma Upazila, Bandarban, targeting various secret hideouts of the Kuki-Chin National Army (KNA). Training camps were dismantled, and training-related equipment was recovered, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Wednesday.
During a month-long operation from July 25 to August 26, a KNA training camp was identified in the Rengtelang hills. Although no personnel were found at the site, wooden rifles, sniper rifle silings, military belts, uniforms, boots, blankets, walkie-talkie chargers, solar panels, rations, and other equipment were recovered. Following the operation, the training grounds, firing ranges, and strategic installations were secured by the army.
ISPR stated that the army continues to work tirelessly to ensure the security of all communities in the Chittagong Hill Tracts and will carry out strict operations against armed groups in the future. The KNA emerged in 2022 and operates in Ruma, Rowangchhari, Thanchi, and Biliashuri areas of Rangamati.
