Sylhet, 2 September 2025 – The current president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Aminul Islam Bulbul, announced on Tuesday that he will submit his nomination for the director position in the upcoming elections. After inspecting the Sylhet District Stadium, he stated, “I will work further for the country’s needs. The proper election will be conducted in the first week of October. Here, the president is not directly elected; directors are elected. I will try to secure that position.”

On Monday (1 September), a BCB Board of Directors meeting was held at a five-star hotel in Sylhet, where it was confirmed that the BCB elections will take place in the first week of October.

According to the BCB constitution, the executive committee’s term is four years. The last election was held on 6 October 2021, and under the constitution, the next election must be completed by 7 October 2025.

Under the BCB rules, directors are elected through three categories: 12 directors are elected by 76 Dhaka-based club councillors, 10 directors are elected by regional and district representatives, and 1 director is elected from other representative quotas. Additionally, the National Sports Council (NSC) nominates 2 directors. These 25 directors then vote to elect the BCB president.
