In an interview with Willow Talk Podcast, Healy said the upcoming series against India will be her final chapter in an Australian jersey. She stated that she still loves playing for her country but no longer feels the same competitive drive as before. This is why she feels now is the right time to end her career.
Healy added that while her hunger for victory has not completely disappeared with age, it is not as intense as before. Last season’s Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) was a warning for her. One day, she woke up and felt it was just another ordinary cricket day. This realization surprised her and made her reflect on her future.
In her 15-year illustrious career, Healy has given Australia countless memorable moments, led the team at crucial times, and set numerous records. Under her leadership and batting skill, Australia has won a total of eight World Cups—six T20 World Cups and two ODI World Cups.
Statistical contributions also highlight her impact. In 123 ODIs, she scored 3,563 runs, and in 162 T20 matches, she scored 3,054 runs. Individually, she won ICC Women’s T20 Player of the Year consecutively in 2018 and 2019.
