The AB Party has expressed concern over potential political uncertainty related to the implementation of the July Charter and the upcoming national election. The party’s chairman, Mojibur Rahman Manju, stated that due to the stubbornness and poor decisions of several political parties, the July Charter may not be fully implemented, and the national election could face obstacles.
On Sunday evening, he raised these concerns during a special meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) at the AB Party central office in the capital. The meeting was chaired by the party chairman himself.
Manju said, “After the July popular uprising, the country most needed national unity. But mutual conflicts and mudslinging are destroying that unity. The environment for political coexistence is breaking down, which undermines the objectives of the July uprising.”
He addressed the party’s chief advisor, Professor Muhammad Yunus, urging that strong measures must be taken immediately to maintain national unity and reduce political uncertainty.
The AB Party has clearly stated its support for holding the national election in February. Manju added, “The election should be held based on the July Charter. Everyone must be vigilant to ensure that no process disrupts the February election.”
The meeting also discussed the deteriorating law and order situation in the country. Senior party leaders present included Senior Vice Chairman Major (Retd.) Abdul Wahab Minar, General Secretary Asaduzzaman Fuad, Vice Chairmen Jahangir Kashem and Golam Faruk, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Didarul Alam, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Helal Uddin Ahmed, and other members of the executive council.
