6,000 kg of Government Rice Recovered in Sirajganj after Being Illegally Stored in Plastic Bags

Authorities in Kazipur, Sirajganj, have uncovered an incident where government rice was illegally transferred into plastic bags. On Tuesday evening (September 23), the Upazila administration conducted a raid on Momin Mia’s warehouse in Harinathpur Diyarpara, Sonamukhi Union, recovering approximately 6,250 kg of government rice.

The raid was led by Acting Upazila Executive Officer and Kazipur Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Naima Jahan Sumaiya. Acting on a tip-off, the authorities seized 10 bags with government logos, 115 plastic bags, and 303 empty government bags. Each of the 115 plastic bags contained 50 kg of government rice.

The Upazila administration stated that the rice had been transferred into plastic bags for the purpose of illegal market sale. During the raid, the warehouse owner, Md. Abdul Momin Talukdar, could not be found. The authorities have instructed the relevant police station to file a case.
