15 Students Including Chhatra Dal Leader Caught Consuming Alcohol and Cannabis on Hall Rooftop at Jahangirnagar University

Around 2 a.m. on Monday, a leader of the Chhatra Dal branch and approximately 15 students were caught consuming alcohol and cannabis on the rooftop of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Hall at Jahangirnagar University.

Eyewitnesses and elected hall students reported that they went to the rooftop following complaints of ragging of freshman students. There, the students, including the Chhatra Dal leader Md. Jaber, exhibited aggressive behavior while under the influence of alcohol. Under the directive of the proctor, alcohol, cannabis, and other substances were confiscated.

Among those caught were the hall’s Chhatra Dal leader Md. Jaber, several students from the IBA department, and others. As the university vice-chancellor was absent late at night, the proctor, Professor A.K.M. Rashidul Alam, ordered the collection of evidence from the scene and the initiation of appropriate action.
