On the night of August 27, India’s Border Security Force (BSF) detained 15 Bangladeshi citizens at the Hakimpur checkpoint near the Taluigacha border in Satkhira Sadar Upazila. On Thursday night, they were handed over to the Bangladeshi Border Guard (BGB) through a flag meeting.
According to a BGB press release, the detainees included men, women, and children of various ages from Satkhira, Khulna, and Pirojpur districts. The handover took place in the presence of BSF Amudia Company Commander Inspector Dibajyoti Doli and Taluigacha BOP Commander Abul Kashem.
After the handover, the BGB patrol team brought the detainees to Satkhira Sadar Police Station. OC Shaminul Haque stated that the identities of the detainees would be verified, and they would be handed over to their legal guardians.
Notable individuals among those detained include the family of Mikail Molla, Sekandar Hossain (son of Abdur Rab Sardar), Ruhul Amin and his family, and Marzina Begum and her daughter.
Following the incident, Taluigacha BOP Commander Naib Subedar Abul Kashem filed a general diary at Satkhira Sadar Police Station on August 28. Investigations are ongoing, and local authorities are arranging for the safe return of the detainees to their families.
