129 arrested in special operation in the capital; DMP says operations will continue

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested 129 individuals in a special operation conducted across the capital on charges of involvement in various criminal activities.

The operation was carried out on Friday (May 15) in different areas of the capital. Later, DMP confirmed the arrests in a press release.

According to the statement, 31 people were arrested from Mirpur Model Thana area, 49 from Tejgaon, 30 from Gulshan, and 19 from Jatrabari areas.

DMP said that 5 people were arrested from different areas under Tejgaon Thana, 6 from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, 16 from Mohammadpur, 7 from Adabor, 8 from Tejgaon Industrial Area, and 7 more from Hatirjheel Thana.

Among those arrested in Jatrabari Thana, three were named accused in regular cases and one in an older case. In addition, four individuals had arrest warrants issued by the court. The remaining 11 were sentenced through mobile courts for various offenses.

Police said such operations will continue regularly to maintain law and order and strengthen crime control activities in the capital.
