100,000 Yaba Tablets Seized in Teknaf in RAB Operation

In Teknaf Upazila of Cox’s Bazar, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-15) conducted an anti-drug operation in Noakhali Para of Baharchhara Union and seized 100,000 Yaba tablets. During the operation, a young man was also arrested.

The arrested individual is Mohammad Hakim (23), son of Nurul Islam, resident of Noakhali Para, Ward No. 9 of Baharchhara Union.

According to RAB sources, based on a tip-off, on Wednesday RAB-15's CPC-1 (Teknaf Camp) conducted an operation along the Marine Drive road area en route from Teknaf to Cox’s Bazar. During the operation, in the presence of local witnesses, 10 packets wrapped in white polythene and buried underground inside a betel leaf plantation were recovered. On inspection, the packets contained 100,000 Yaba tablets. In addition, an Android mobile phone was also seized.

Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB-15 Cox’s Bazar, Assistant Superintendent of Police A.M. Faruk, said that Mohammad Hakim has been arrested in connection with the recovered drugs. Legal proceedings under the Narcotics Control Act are ongoing against him. RAB has stated that operations like this will continue regularly to prevent drug trafficking in border areas.
