In northern Aleppo, Syria, intense clashes broke out between government forces and the US-supported Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), resulting in at least four deaths. Several others were injured in the gunfire and artillery exchange.

Syria’s state-controlled news agency SANA reported that during an SDF attack on Tuesday, one soldier was killed and three were injured. Later, the interior ministry stated that three civilians were also killed, including two women, and several others, including two children, were injured.

The clashes were particularly intense in the Ashrafiyah and Sheikh Maqsoud areas of Aleppo, where the Kurdish population is concentrated. Al Jazeera correspondent Rasul Serdar Atas reported, “The clashes involve heavy shelling, mortar fire, rockets, and drone usage by both sides.”

The conflict began when the SDF sent drones to the Al-Midan area. The SDF claims that shells killing civilians were fired by government-aligned forces.

Military unification talks between the Syrian government and the SDF have been suspended for several days. A comprehensive solution between the two sides has not yet been reached.

Simultaneously, in southern Syria, the Israeli military entered Saida Al-Golan village with 12 vehicles. This occurred while Syrian and Israeli delegations were holding talks in Paris.

Israel seeks complete demilitarization in southern Syria, along with protecting its installations in Jabal al-Sheikh and ensuring the safety of Druze minorities. Syria, however, demands, “Israel must leave their territory and stop all attacks and intrusions.”

Analysts say the differing goals of Syria, Israel, and the United States complicate the war situation. Marie Forestier, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, notes, “Such Israeli actions create disorder in Syria, which could lead to a more complex situation in the future.”

Since the fall of long-time Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, Israel has continued aggression in southern Syria beyond the Golan Heights. Over the past year, it has conducted more than 600 air, drone, and artillery attacks.
