The tournament will be held from November 17 to 24 at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium. Preparations have been intensified across the capital, including decoration, logistics, and security arrangements. Organizers have ensured accommodation and practice facilities for participants and modernized ticketing and stadium arrangements for spectators.
Professor Yunus said, “Bangladesh has created a strong platform for women to advance in international sports. Through this World Cup, we aim not only to promote Kabaddi but also to empower women to new heights.” He thanked all involved parties and extended best wishes to the participating teams.
A total of 11 countries, including Bangladesh, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Iran, India, Kenya, Nepal, Poland, Thailand, Uganda, and Zanzibar, are participating. Over the eight-day competition, top teams will face each other, and there will be cultural exchanges among participating nations.
Youth and Sports Advisor Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said, “The government’s initiatives for women athletes are already showing results. Bangladesh’s success internationally will inspire future generations.” He added that the government is now more involved in promoting women’s sports.
The official opening ceremony will take place tomorrow, and the final match is scheduled for November 24. Organizers hope the event will not only increase Kabaddi’s popularity but also strengthen Bangladesh’s position in international sports.
