The United States has announced that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to extend the ongoing ceasefire by 45 days following talks in Washington.
The US State Department said the ceasefire, effective from April 16, has been extended to allow progress toward long-term peace.
Further political talks are scheduled for June 2–3, and a separate security meeting will begin on May 29.
However, violence continues on the ground, with airstrikes and drone attacks reported in southern Lebanon.
Lebanon accuses Israel of continuing strikes despite the ceasefire, while Israel says it targets Hezbollah-linked threats.
Analysts say while diplomacy is progressing, continued violence makes lasting peace difficult.
